CI filter : SWITCH ON!!!!!

Feb 10, 2006 14:11

IT'S ON!!!! And the sound is nothing like anything I've ever heard in my life. Thank god I was told by lots of people I was going to hate it, now I'm not too fazed about how strange it all sounds.

*MASSIVE HUGS*

Gongrats babe :). It works, and can only get better from here!!

Do they progressivly tune this thing over the next few weeks, or is it up to your brain to work it out now?

I go in every week for a month for fine-tuning... then 3 months after that and 6 months after that :)

Thanks Wade... you arent wrong, it can only get better!

I meant to tell you this earlier, but I ran into an article online about a guy with the implant who was sick of his music sounding flat (since they are designed for speech of course). So he was able to get a hold of the software for his implant and with the help of some drs/engineers was able to reprogram his own implant so his favourite music would sound better!

I also got to hear a few samples of the quality of the sound that you get from the implants. I was confused though because they had examples of "1 channel, 2 channel,....up to 24 channel" I think. I wasn't sure what that was referring to which is why I asked if they tune it in as the weeks go by. I had assumed that they turned on more channels as the weeks went on. At 1 channel I heard what you are describing....just a bit of a fuzzy mess, but it becale legible speech at around 8 channels, and by 24 it was pretty damn perfect.

Found it. Now I read more carefully, it mentions that it is a factor in the generation of implant.....up to 22 channel ones now?

I've read this twice now. It's just so cool!
I bet you can't wait for when all these sounds make more sense to you :P

Have you opened a soft drink bottle yet? Not only for the ptshh sound but also for the sound of bubbles in a glass. Don't forget my personal favourite which I recommended last time, flipping the pages of a book!

Its still on a low volume so fizzy drink is out atm, I can only hear loud sort of noises... but when I get fine-tuned next week I might be able to hear it. I can't WAIT for that one.

I'll be back at work next week and be able to flip all the pages of books I want, I'm going to drive people nuts! YAAAAAAAAY!!!!
