Raven swallowed a mouthful of tofu pad thai and a giggle along with it. "Perhaps you should start with something a little less spicy," she said, smiling across the table at him. "The pad thai is delicious."

"I don't doubt it," Jono sighed, looking down at his plate, and then kind of nudging the broccoli around a moment more. "But I'm reserving the right to be stubborn about dinner, at least. It's a dignity thing, you know."

He'd been eating curry since he was a kid. So help him, he wasn't a kid anymore. He could handle it now.

And drink a lot of water.

"Is not milk a better drink when you are eating something very spicy?" Raven asked.

She didn't have a lot of experience with spicy food, since surprise surprise, Azarathian food was fairly simple. But she thought she'd been told that once before.

Much as he loved his cat, he was not sharing his dinner with her. It just wasn't going to happen.
