I used to have a big, old dog with bad hips (my boy, Alex, a retired racing greyhound). Glucosamine really does do wonders. 1000 mg a day, crushed up and sprinkled over his food, and his hips were fine. If we missed a dose, we'd see it within hours. It didn't cure him, but it did give us a few more years with him than we would have had otherwise.
I have been doing the glucosamine thing, but not sure of the does, will have to check. :) She takes the tablets and chews them up like a trouper, I will try the food thing, maybe that will get it to her system faster.
Most grocery store brands are 250 mg per pill, which is kind of like trying to get rid of a migraine with baby aspirin. We got ours at Sam's Club when the dogs were alive. I've heard good things about Kirkland, too, if you have a Costco membership.
Oh honey, I SO understand.. I think we are getting to the point of being selfish with Brix. We are going to take him soon to the vet.. But let Josh come home first...
I will keep you and Mac in my thoughts this weekend. If you need *anything* just call!
