directly it means "make something bad with people, and after all they certainly would behave themselves as zombie..."
but in russia many people has been spoken that way, when they trying to blame politicians and say that trough media they influence bad on people's brain may be to persuade them do something or believe in something

It’s never occurred to me not to, because it’s polite. I’ve found that author-authors come to expect this; many of them introduce their party to me before I have a chance to take the lead.
