1) There are no extensions this year, but take heart! You can make your own extension simply by posting what you have ready as of now (or at least, before tonight's deadline of 11pm eastern - not 11:59pm. 11pm.) Then, keep editing away. Nobody is going to read it until Sunday the 21st. This does not mean that it's okay to just paste in 1000 words

It's over 1000 words of fic (and not the same 100 words again and again) so it counts. This initial deadline isn't for perfect quality, it's for "will there be something at all". So yeah, take the next couple days and edit. Nobody's going to read it (beyond the "does it meet the requirements" check I just did) for a week. :)
