Oh Kara. She's just made of SO MUCH AWESOME. I love this. I really appreciate how you had her treading so carefully when she got close. She's not just crazy, she's smart too. And after this Lee wouldn't have the same existential crisis that he did the other way. That means no Black Market stupidity! I love Kara rescuing Lee. It's so her.
I loved the mechanics of what happened in this piece, I could see it happening onscreen in my head. And yes, she's very smart. They never would have trained for anything like this and never been allowed to attempt such a rescue back in the days before the Fall, but she knows just what to do in a blink of an eye anyway. There's no moment of worrying about the risk or how crazy it is, Kara just does it.
Me too! It's something I could have seen happening. Maybe she wouldn't have done it for just any pilot, would have let SAR deal with them, but for Lee... she isn't taking the risk.
Such a lovely story. Kara is beyond insane. That is a given. But it is just so cute that her wildest moments have to do with Lee and his safety. I just hope there are really no-takebacks.
In my version of what happens after this, there definitely are no takebacks. They both know he meant his words, and not just in the best friend kind of way. Coming close to losing him and seeing it with her own eyes (as opposed to in canon when she just hears about it, can't really feel how on the brink he was) makes her cut the crap.
Of course! It wouldn't be a magic-cure-all for everything and every doubt he was having, but it would be a start for him and that would undoubtedly be enough.
I always wondered about that too, with his ejection. I managed to convince myself that perhaps the ejection seat had some kind of function built in that would release air in the opposite direction to slow him down so he wouldn't be off flying through space forever... and that's totally what I'm sticking with. I wish the show had done more real-spacey movements but I just don't think it was in their budget. I was watching an episode earlier, the one where they release Hera's ashes and the Chief and Helo are just standing there, half out of the cabin and still under the effects of gravity... I try not to think about it because it gives me a headache.
