I totally love this! I love grown up pilots with most their shit together. So sweet and cute. I do kinda want to see some more interaction between Joseph and Kara. He is after all an Adama, destined to love her like Kara is destined to love the Adamas.:)
Everyone's loved this so much (and frankly, I just don't feel done with them either), that I'll most definitely be continuing this AU in the very near future (just finishing up finals this week!) and exploring the relationship that develops between Kara and Joseph.
this is just great. some angst and then the unexpected dinner and some sexy-times and then Gianne and pancakes.... and then Lee sort of demanding a more serious relationship.... *sigh* what's not to love.
it's not Happily ever after but in a strange-pilots way it;s even better.
I love him as a dad too! A lot of the fics I've seen have been Kara with a kid secretly or then Kara+Lee with a baby/kid. I can only think of one off the top of my head where Lee is a dad like he is here (Can't remember the name of it right now but I know it's written by kag523). I just love how totally mellow they've both turned in some ways and how Lee really took to fatherhood when given the chance to embrace it instead of run from it.
I am so totally in the love with this story and 'verse! It was tender and new and exciting and nerve-wracking- you did a wonderful job of really making me feel what both Kara and Lee were feeling. I find it fitting that they start the new chapter of their life on Zak's birthday, it's poignant and yet hopeful. :) and the sexytimes were fantastic and super hot. Yes. There definitely needs to be more of that.
Most of all I loved your language and the world you created. It felt lived in and real, right down to pancakes and Joseph's favorite cup. I can't wait to watch him fall head over heels for Kara as every other Adama had before him. :) and it was interesting to see Gianne too! That "Zak's fiancé" line- yowch girl, put the claws away. Heh I wouldn't hate seeing more of her.
I could go on and on. I love this, I love your Kara and Lee and I'm looking forward to more! :)
Ha! I loved Gianne's line about her having been Zak's fiancee, although it made her seem a little bitchier than I intended. I wanted to give some inkling of disapproval to what Lee was doing, like Kara would always bee off limits to him (at least in the eyes of some people) despite how much time could pass--and then give Lee a chance to express how much he just does not frakking care anymore, though maybe once upon a time he did (which was why he never acted on it long ago).
Thanks so much for reading and commenting! I'll be writing a sequel/followup/continuation/whatever! to this over the next few days.
This is a really great take on their relationship. I especially like the fact that they are not completely over their past but still hopeful about their future. I hope there is more of this 'verse in the future
I just cannot resist, in any way, the undeniable connection between these two. You write it so phenomenally well. I love Lee's plain and simple utter devotion to wanting her all those years. Aaaamazing.
Thank you so much! I had a blast writing these versions of the characters. I loved Lee's devotion as well, and that it could persist in him even as life moved on. He got married, had a kid, divorced and dated around, but Kara was always at the back of his mind. Now he finally knows the planets have aligned and given him a real shot and he isn't going to let it waste.
