Oddities...

People who know me well (there are not that many), know that I hate to admit I am sick. In fact, most people don't know at all because I never let on. I guess it is stubbornness inherited from oh so many generations (my mom and grandma are the same way) and it is my general dislike to admitting any sort of weakness ( Read more... )

If you're really that antsy I have a yard full of leaves and a lawn that needs to be mowed under said leaves. You can go at your own pace. And if the physical is too much, you can deal with balancing my checkbook. ;)

Besides being better for you to let your body rest so it can channel ALL its energy to repairing your cells to make you better, faster -- sick people would earn the unending gratitude of the rest of the worried well if they would think twice about being super-heroes by going to work and gyms while sick, spreading those nasty microbes around in offices, on computer keyboards, and at gyms. I'll probably be avoiding the gym during the winter plague season for exactly that reason. Probably will avoid Arisia too, since everyone seems to come down with something nasty and long-lasting right after it.

Honestly I am one of the evil germ spreaders who works out when sick. I've been known to have a pack of tissues next to my water bottle. I do make sure to wipe everything down extra, though, and I don't go if I have a cough. I just do something light to get the blood flowing. I swear it helps with recovery.

Unfortunately I know me..and even when I say "oh I will just do something light"...I don't. I cannot help but push myself if I am there.

Gently and light don't seem to be in my body's vocabulary. I have screwed myself over time and time again by doing this and then end up relapsing and sick for another several weeks thereafter :)

Ah, fair enough. I am the opposite, I'm kind of lazy unless I have a plan. I mean, I will work my ass off if someone is pushing me or if there is a specific challenge, but if my workout is unstructured I'll realize after like 20 minutes that my HR is like 110 and I'm not even sweating :).
