Today I stepped out for lunch at work to get something to eat. I ordered three cookies (double chocolate chip, macadamia nut, and chocolate chip) to give to the homeless lady who sometimes sits on the bench outside of the building I work in. a few things: you might never know her name. whatever nickname you give her, that is her name. second, i'm glad you don't think she is rude by snatching things from your hands. just hold them lightly since you know she is going to take it that way.

Interesting entry, especially the pretend tv part. I would love to follow around someone like this for a few days and see what their life is really like (not just little snip its). In other words, where she sleeps each night, when/how much she eats, how many people give her food or money or things, if she ever seems to make any sense, if she would acknowledge my presence after shadowing her for awhile, if she'd be hostile, or ?

I also wonder what she would do if you tried to have a conversation with her or tried to video/photograph her?

How long have you been seeing her out there in from our your work place?

i would love to sneak a picture of her, but i'm intimidated. she might either be thrilled, or she might grab the camera and smash it to the ground. i wouldn't trust her just yet. i really wanted to get her a cupcake, but that didn't seem convenient, so that's why i got her the cookies.

i've seen her here and there around downtown for the last couple of months, but even more recently. i think she sleeps on park benches because once when the shuttle dropped me off, i passed her asleep on one. she was lying on her side and rocking back and forth.

So she does acknowledge you each time you interact with her- enough to where you are afraid she might smash the camera.

from what i've observed, she just seems like she might be aggressive...or she might do something irrational. i wonder what i'll give her next :)
