On Thursday night, bohemond, bicoastal and I went to the SF Weekly Music awards, as Blackalicious was scheduled to perform a full set. Unfortunately, the audience was not that into music -- they seemed more interested in socializing as part of the music scene, I suppose, rather than participating in it -- so Blackalicious didn't grace us with an encore. Oh well. ( Read more... )

lady_inish, morningfire, keoki and I went to Halfmoon Bay on Sat as well- I wonder if we went to the same corn maze? The mud *was* pretty awful, it started out okay but that clay mud really cakes on fast. At least we went through the maze during a relatively rain-free spell so it wasn't super-slippery. Keoki got us out of the maze pretty quickly by using the "trick" of always turning the same direction when presented with a choice of directions (he chose right but apparently left works just as well if you consistent). I'd never heard of this but apparently it's well known and works all the time if you start that way from the very begining.

I like rain so other than the mud it was a very nice day- the smell of rain and ocean air was really delicious.

Yeah, the *-hand rule works. The basic idea is that when you enter, the external boundaries of the maze are on your right/left. As long as you stay along the external boundary, will will reach the exit. However, if you ever break from the rule, then you can be following an internal wall in a circle.
