We're gonna rock down to...Electric Avenue.

Who sings that song? Whenever I hear it, a goofy grin grows on my face and I just feel the beats rising up from my toes. "And then we'll take it high-a!". I've stopped being embarrassed when I get caught gyrating in my car at a red light. If it makes people feel better about themselves, well then there you go ( Read more... )

That was Eddie Grant -- who is actually from Baltimore -- so we can add him to our cache of Md musicians up there with Good Charlotte, SR71, Kix, Clutch & Tupac

I leave you with this thought:

Down in the street there is violence
And a lots of work to be done
No place to hang out our washing
And I can't blame all on the sun, oh no

CHORUS:
We gonna rock down to Electric Avenue
And then we'll take it higher
Oh we gonna rock down to Electric Avenue
And then we'll take it higher

Workin' so hard like a soldier
Can't afford a thing on TV
Deep in my heart I'm a warrior
Can't get food for the king, good God

CHORUS

Oh no...
Oh no...
Oh no...
Oh no...

CHORUS

Who is to blame in one country
Never can get to the one
Dealin' in multiplication
And they still can't feed everyone, oh no

Out in the street...
Out in the street...
Out in the playground...
In the dark side of town...

Rock it in the daytime
Rock it in the night ...

Now Grin On

Erin. Erin, Erin, Erin.

Why is it, that when you mention a band or song, it immediately gets stuck in my head?

Now I am very upset with you. I don't know who sings that song, but it will surely be stuck in my head all day.

The shoe wearing went fine. I had to put some tissue in the toe because they were slightly too big. It's weird though, I went with my friend who knew the bride because they're neighbors and then it turns out that I used to work with a whole bunch of people who were there. I got to have filet mignon, too. Huzzah.

I don't know why, but that song always makes me think of 1980's toothpaste commercials.

Did that song play on toothpaste commercials? I would like to rock my teeth with Electric Avenue toothpaste.

I don't believe so but I think it reminds me of the old glittery colgate commercials. You know, the ones with the kids walking on the HUGE piano keys. The music in those ads was in the same electronic style as ELECTRIC AVENUE. I know, I know, I sound like a retard. HaHa!
