So I’m back at work again, and have been for a couple of weeks and I am forced to conclude that I have been mistaken for some sort of multi-tasking, hyper being with tentacles able to individually perform all the tasks required of me by my Orwellian overlords. Now I’ve good and lost you I should back up.

Don't know much about Ed Balls (except that he's been a pal of Gordon Brown for years) but yeah Ruth Kelly was a demented witch. School league tables are bollocks. In fact I think the whole parent choice of schools agenda is bollocks. With limited resources and e.g. 4 schools, 1 ace, 2 OK, 1 shit, why not use the resources to improve the shit school rather than using them to let (well educated middle class) parents get their kids into a better school while a bunch of other kids (with less advantaged family backgrounds) are stuck in the shit one. Oh, that's why - because lots of those muiddle class parents are floating voters and you're scared they'll switch parties and make you lose power.
