suspected insanity

Okay - is it me or is it weird to try to fix a club that you don’t attend, haven’t attended for a while, and the only indication that there is a problem in the first place seems to come from someone else who does not attend, hasn’t attended for a while and would probably moan that the mana from heaven got sand on it anyway.

Or am I going mad?

Bu just likes sharing the wisdom of the ancients with us youngsters (don't laugh! Compared to Bu I *am* a youngster!)

Ste has always been a bit of a moaner, but some of you guys aren't helping by putting posts on there that are pretty close to being rude and dismissive.

There's nothing wrong with a bit of discussion, and even a bit of moaning.

Besides, I agree with a lot of what he says and I still regularly attend. It's just that I'm willing to go with majority rule because that's what a committee based club is about.

Fair point - I am probably taking it a bit personally due to the amount of effort put in recently, which is totally my bad. Also the issues being raised carry a lot more weight coming from you who has been at the club to see how it is / isn’t working, rather than second hand comments.
I guess it’s just a bit of a downer to have ran what to my mind was the first really good Wilderness event in a while to then hit a load of criticism from people who weren’t there. Totally willing to concede that I might be being overly touchy.

I reckon you have to seperate the criticism of the rules mechanics (which does exist and is what the thread is about) from the criticism of how the last event ran (which doesn't exist and is all in your head).

We're never going to get to a state where everyone agrees on game mechanics, not whilst people like me, Bu and Chris still believe in fast progression, powerful items and high death rates. We just have to try to talk about it on the boards without feeling personally attacked.

Go re-read the "great event" thread on the board. Get some perspective ;)

I agree with you on barton, think that annoys me is that his been on the rules team last year no less, so could have raised all this stuff and tryed to change the problem, but all he did do was some half written idea about shield skills, and then step down .

But Bu's points are valid and constructive, but as others have said its a discussion on the mechanics of the system, not a comment about how awesome the last event was.

Also one final point I still think the refs should have got the same exp as the players :P
