trivial news

Well in comparison to other people’s weeks I really have nothing that will strike anyone as important, but I’m going to babble anyway on the theory that if you don’t like trivial crap why you reading anyway?! So without further ado…

The first week of the holidays has gone - and despite being rather busy I don’t feel like I have done much. ( Read more... )

Trivial crap = good. It's what LJ is mostly for ;-)

SoS stuff - your way sounds good - different strands of stuff to involve different groups.
Heh. Always amuses me how the first people to complain over lack of plot access and cliquiness are often prone to sitting on plot instead of sharing it around or only interacting IC with OOC mates (although obviously that's just me being cliquey and picking on them...)

I get really very riled up about the "clique" accusations, especially since they've had the re-set, changed the committees 50 times and they're still whinging about it.

Face it - we're just cooler than they are :)

Now i don't have a problem with people jumping in on plot, but keeping it between the same 'people' not 'characters' would be. (though i've not seen this with mine)

More of an issue for me is expecting some sort of OOC system to do this for them (e.g. I've been on 3 dungeons so I want priority on the 4th).

Hmm. Guess I'm someone who could be accused of this one. I try to handle it by playing characters with very varied backgrounds and attitudes so that they'll be interested in different things and like different people. Hasn't worked much lately, Amy's deeply involved in loads of stuff. I was going to have a break from playing her on dungeons after the lich plot finished, but then she heard about the Nephalim stuff and so I had the character respond as she automatically would. Same plan to have a break from adventuring as her (certainly on the 'big plots') when I can justify it IC though. It would seem rubbish to do it all for OOC reasons.

I agree that SoS can seem cliquey - but I don't think any more so than other clubs. I think Wilderness Farm is a particularly bad site for this as there aren't e.g. communal cooking and eating facilities so everyone tends to split into small groups. OOC bimbling time is the worst - everyone chats to each other when playing or monstering.

Oh and personally, I bet the overnighter will be cool, but I'm equally happy to monster or play it (and if I play it I'll try to avoid the next overnighter or whatever - unless it's something I really couldn't explain IC)
