Yesterday.
So there was this man. Incomplete sentence, but whatever. Remember the actor who played 'Little Jon' in Requiem for a Dream and Mary's father in There's Something about Mary? This man had an uncanny resemblance to him. Encountered him at the bus stop. Minding my own business when this man decides to explain his theory to me. I ( Read more... )

ah no I agree with him, to a certain extent.
our feet ARE our roots.
thus the resemblance is completely neccesary and understandably so.
you turn away from these people as if they're crazy when really, they understand more than perhaps you do?

think of how your shoes were created too.
lies. all lies. and bullshit.

Shoes as a white conspiracy to rot our feet off?
Maybe he just never heard of using clean socks.
I assume my shoes were made in Thailand or another synonymous country with cheap, organized labor. My shoes provided wages which, albeit low (criminally low if one incorrectly applies to them our standard of living), kept x number of kids from resorting to prostitution. The fact that the man had on Nike sandals (if I remember correctly) keeps his assertion from being an ethical debate.

It was his belief that shoes are a plot by a government that, for some reason, wants our feet in a state of decay, rather than shoes being a method to keep warm, protect ourselves from the elements, and avoid stubbed toes, that makes me turn away from him.

the thing is, I don't remember writing any of that, and looking back on it- I was wrongly reading your whole post.

Haha, no sweat.
I have to admit I was a little surprised you leapt to the defense of the man with the foot-based conspiracy theory, but hey, I've misread things so many times in the past, I can totally understand where you're coming from.

Now, my question is: if you don't remember writing any of your comment, can I assume you had a great time last night? ;)

I'm not sure how other people classify verbal interaction with people they don't know, but it can always be interesting. The fact that you have Fight Club, Memento, Trainspotting, Rachmaninoff, psychology, and sleeping as parts of your interests automatically defines you as a worthy, and therefore credible, read. (Well, that and you're funny.)
Reading past comments, I've noticed that people like to debate with you. How does it feel to know that people are actually taking your entries seriously instead of just skipping over them?

I adore it.

I am glad we share interests. If you have no objections, I believe I will add you, read some of your posts and you can see some of my friends-only posts.
