Twinkle, twinkle...

Took the bus up to Seattle on Sunday. Still here for those of you who might be wondering where I am. I'll be back tomorrow. Anyhow, the bus. The bus. You know, I am often very fond of the bus and mass-transit in general. I have a thing against Greyhound, but I suppose that is to be expected when one spends 52-hours being miserable on one. I don't ride mass-transit often so I have nothing to say about that, but I'll have you know I sang "The Itsy Bitsy Spider" only 3 hours ago. ;-)

Who knows, maybe the little muskrat will become a professional rapper someday. The world needs more of those!=-)

These are probably the same people who complain about the corruption of their kids from TV, video games, books, you name it... anything to take the responsibility for their neglected kids away from them.

Although I did hear a 7-year old start singing "Hollaback Girl" and I wanted to go tie him down and make him listen to the Beatles or other such oldies group. I think that is mostly because I *hate* that song though.

It is horrifying, isn't it? I am in a constant state of shock when I go to the mall, because half the population appears to be pre-pubescent girls at least a foot shorter than me, strutting it up dressed like whores, talking on their cell phones and flirting with 18 year old boys. It really is frightening, not to mention tragic.

I agree. That being said, I can now repeat the same old litany that applies to every morally wrong situation that bothers me: democracy is imperfect. When I see my nine year old cousin repeating a rap that discusses women crawling on the floor for men while she twists her stomach in moves that would make any belly dancer proud, I wish I could shield her from all of the crap that makes her act that way. But I can't. So I bitch about it, like you just did. And I worry about the state of things, like you do. And I still have to admit at the end of the day that the democracy I also agree with shouldn't be able to do anything about it. (But by democracy I mean our goverment. Certainly private organizations can promote good values, although ultimately parenting decision lie with children's guardians for now, since the government recognizes legal guardians as a minor's primary authority, except in the case of abuse. Even though I think letting a child listen to those lyrics is abuse. Even though these parenthesis have gotten really long ( ... )

They could be poor.. and unable to afford anything but McDonalds :( It does happen, since you can get a whole prepared meal at McD's for dirt cheap. Just a possibility, I don't know for sure.
