I was startled awake this morning by a strange sight. A Canada Goose managed to perch on the tiny ledge of my bedroom window on the fourth floor. It knocked on the window with its beak and greeted me with a seemingly cheery squawk

As for the goose, are you sure it didn't have a message in it's beak or something? It might have dropped out when it squawked. I'm impressed it managed to perch because the Canada geese I know are quite gawky on legs.
I can't stand it when people my age (or close to it) complain of being old. I'm not even halfway to my life expectancy! You're as old as you want to be. Stress does age you, and I'm glad to hear you're losing some of that stress. There's still so much fun to be had!

I'm especially impressed as it was perching at my fourth floor apartment!
As far as messages, other than a sudden craving for sage stuffing, the goose remained enigmatic in the manner of geese perched on highrises.
