Poor Dorcas, indeed. It really astounds me to think of all the people that Voldemort killed. I know its a fictional story, but the reality of it is really really sad. On another note, I'm guessing that this is their indication that the Fidelius Charm is the best route for protection? Can't wait to read more!

You could be right! Though I really shouldn't say so, should I?!

Poor Dorcas, and Benjy, and the Prewett brothers, etc. I will do another one, hopefully tomorrow, I'm just too knackered today - twelve hours work isn't much fun *yawn*. But there will be more, I promise!

Thank you *hugs hard*

I like how you put it this way: that Dorcas' death was the impetus for the Potters to finally go into hiding. It was a long time coming, but as long as they can still join "the outside world," there's still this illusion of everything will be alright. But when they're already at that point of the reality of it...it's just sad. All you can do is hope.

And knowing how the story goes, it's heartbreaking.

I love your choice of a moment, though. Writing is also about choosing that angle or snippet to tell a story from, and you're excellent in that. :)

I've generally picked out Dorcas to be Lily's "best" friend from school because it could fit that she got killed because she wouldn't give out any information where James and Lily were. I've written Bengy Fenwick as her boyfriend in the past for the same reason, as Voldy killed him personally too. There had to be some reason he hand-picked them over some of the others. Only time will tell I guess.

Thank you so much for your lovely comments. There are a few of you regular commenters who do exactly what you said I do to you - inspire me. It's because of you regulars that I keep going, churning them out. Thank you very much for that.

Besides the idea that I really can't see James doing an AK, I thought it was really good.
I really liked the intense amount of preparation from James and Lily as well as Dumbledore's counter with telling Sirius about how careful to be. It really added to the intensity of the piece.

Absolutely not. We know that he is highly unlikely to, if he had then perhaps Harry wouldn't have had to grow up with Petunia. However times of panic and all that make you think you'd be capable of doing things you wouldn't normally. There have been times when I've thought I'd do things, or say things, that aren't in my character really and right to the moment that I would have to do so I believe I will, and then when the time comes I just can't bring myself to do it. I've never been faced with a child under a long-term threat like they (fictionally) were.

Thank you for reading and leaving, as you always do, a thoughtful comment. Now I have to dash or I'll be late for work ... *grin*

Thank you.

I'm feeling such a cow. How could I forget it was your brithday? I'm so sorry Erica, I did know and .. argh, I don't know. It wasn't deliberate anyway. A belated but very Happy Birthday wish to you.

It must have been something in the back of my mind that made me write Dorcas on your birthday!

Thank you again. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Haha! Don't worry about it, hun! It's not like I advertised it all over my livejournal before yesterday, and it's not posted on my livejournal userinfo, so it's no problem! XD You aren't a cow, so don't feel like one! No need to apologize! But thank you for the belated birthday wishes! XD

Hehe yes! But it was a very good piece too! :D

And now a look at the darker part of the times. This is a good balance to all those exceptionally cute James/Lily/Baby Harry pieces you've been putting up. You're an all-around talent. :)

Makes me get choked up, though. *sniff*
