Had any visitors?mata_hari_May 10 2006, 15:59:29 UTC
I'm planning on taking a mini-vacation soon and I was seriously thinking I'd come there for a few days... I just needed to talk to you first... It would be in late-ish July... I'd probably opt for taking the train (I like them) - quite possibly with a travel buddy...

That would be absofuckinlutely awesome. Send an email to apotheon at gmail dot com and I'll give you a "real" email address and other contact info for me from there.
Mildly sweet at first, though not like nigori unfiltered sake; nicely dry, about midrange between a merlot and a cabernet, though obviously completely different flavors; with a sharp nose, almost like drinking whiskey, though again, of course, sake flavored.
Definitely wineglass (or masu cup, better yet) grade sake. Though, like all sake, best within a few days of opening. It doesn't keep as well as grape wine. Still, I'd say I drank this bottle over the course of maybe as long as two weeks, and it wasn't noticeably oxidized at the end. The dryness probably helps.
Mu does something similar with the mild sweetness at first, and after that turns into a flavor I can only describe as the essense of clarity and crispness. It's almost diametrically opposed to the gamy flavors of namazake, in a sense. It doesn't really have any bite to speak of, just subtle flavoring.
To be obnoxiously poetic, it's a bit like drinking distilled (pun intended) alertness.
I remember seeing this and thinking "I'll have to respond to that later when I'm less busy." Apparently, I was busy long enough that I completely forgot to get back to it. Sorry 'bout that!
