From the things I've read in my history class, none of the countries fighting WWII got involved because of Hitler's atrocities. Certainly not the United States. WWII had a lot to do with killing civilians: Dresden, Hiroshima, Nagasaki. War leaves a lot of questions about what is justifiable. I've certainly benefited from wars I would now find objectionable.
Regarding DADT, people seem to fixate on gays trying to enter the military. I figured out my sexual orientation AFTER being in the military for a couple years. Most all the military gays I knew were in the same situation. I think it has a lot to do with figuring things out at that age.
I never heard of either of those movies, but I may have to check them out. Sounds like interesting perspectives. Thanks for posting.
If I had gone into the military right after high school, I would have been in the same boat (about figuring things out).
It's hard to know what to do when one has benefited from acts others committed that one finds objectionable now. Most American's have benefited from kicking the Native Americans off their land. What is the proper response? I don't see giving the land back as being a reasonable answer.
