I gave up on Lent today, not out of not loving Godde, but because the guilt of forever cheating on my fast was eating me in a much bigger way than I or my lover could handle.  I had lost the point of the fast, caught in the daily grind, and while it started good, the result was not good for my body or my soul.  Godde forgive me, I'd rather focus on ( Read more... )

"Godde forgive me, I'd rather focus on Godde, as this time is meant for, than focus on my own guilt at failing."

Good call.

I hope you find a quietness of spirit settling into your life.

I hope you find hope.

I hope you are able to reclaim, again and again, the hope and happiness of your own original beauty.

We stumble and fall so many times.

The Holy One is faithful and loves us always.

As you say, she waits for us to be still, and longs for us to quietly welcome her.

Take care, dear. I think the whole of you is - must be - lovely.

Godde knows that wholeness... and... I believe... delights.

tell me about The Sacred Romance, if you don't mind; who wrote it? what's it about?

Mostly, it's about finding relationship with Godde on a personal level. But of course, the authors (Brent Curtis and John Eldredge) use bits and examples and anecdotes from their own lives, stumblings, and approachings to God. They also emphasizes loving God with reckless abandon like one would a lover , instead of as a cautious love as one would a parent....which is an invigorating and powerful way to love God and converse with him/her. It does, however, hold a mirror up and force one to be them self.

Actually, I recommend anything by Eldridge, especially the piece he wrote with his wife about finding healing as a woman. It's called "Captivating".....the companion to the men's "Wild at Heart," which was all about how God is wild, and so we have permission to love/be the wild too, and that we don't need to be tame, domestic creatures to love God better as many church cultures would have us.
