The K-Bomb not included

Mar 13, 2010 22:23

Leave me a comment and I will give you a letter.
Then, write 10 things that you love starting with that letter.
Post the list in your journal.
Give out letters to your commenters in return.

I got the letter K from mai_shiranui. This is proving so tricksy that I am doing it five at a time.

Of music, make-up and masonry, amongst other things )

Yay for knitting. I love doing scarfs and tiny cardigans for my dolls..... I mean for my niece dolls.

I mean for my niece dolls.

Yeah, yeah, of course you do! (Little Guy doesn't want a rainbow jumper like Much's, even if it would look very cute.)

I know. I think I'm going to make him a velvet frockcoat first, and then I'll talk him into the jumper.

How about P?

You're fascinating! ;) I have not seen Kingdom but that cast alone recommends it to me.

Oh, knitting! I wish knitting and I could get back on the friendly terms we used to be on, but I fear the habit has abandoned me for good. Last year, I started making myself a scarf with some lovely multicolor yarn my mother-in-law gave me. It was going to be The Awesome. I cast on 40, just like the pattern said. 12 rows in, the stitches had gotten married and had babies, because there were like 58. I gave up.

Never let it be said that I try too hard, lol.

Kingdom is well worth tracking down. If it had been BBC, I think it would have done a lot better. There was a lot of whinging about Sunday night TV being too twee, but damnit, it's only one night in a week, and I don't want grit twenty-four seven. What it lacks in painful realism, it more than made up for in warmth, humour and legal loopholes - then when something serious does happen, it has far more impact.

I am glad that you were at least not having illegitimate increases. I knitted when I was little, but I could never retain the technique for some reason. I took it up again at uni (undergrad) - which meant I would go wrong and have to leave it untouched until I could take it home for my freakishly brilliant knitting mother to fix it. It wasn't the best time to try to learn, but I've bested it now. Mwuhaahaaa!

Love cemeteries but fear knitting. I've never claimed to be even close to normal.

Please do not take your frustration with Mai (for giving you "K") out on me by retaliating with "X" or "Q" or some oddball letter. I'm seriously a glass-is-half-empty kind of gal so coming up with 10 loves will be hard enough as is. Thanks.

You could try knitting in cemeteries?

How about M? The difficulty I'd have with that one is narrowing the plethora of loved things down to ten.

Thank you. Nothing immediately springs to mind, but I'll work on finding my happy place where all things I love dwell. Hope it's not locked again!

*goes to think*

I grew up not far from New Orleans, and the cemeteries there are gorgeous. Everyone has to be above ground because the city is below sea level. The crypts and mausoleums are works of art. Plus you get the creepy benefit of huge oak trees with hanging Spanish moss.

I did once read a lot of Poppy Z. Brite, so I can picture those cemeteries - and many other far less pleasant things. It's on that 'places I will one day visit' list, which never seems to get any shorter.

My "must visit" places list gets longer every day, along with my "must read these books" list.

I realize I didn't say I was open to playing. Might I have a letter?

I caught an episode of Kingdom a few nights ago and now I want to see more. It's wonderful.

I admire anyone who can knit. I did learn as a child but could never master it. I just don't have the dexterity for it.

I know what you mean about Kenickie. They were really good.

Could I play too please ?

Kingdom seemed to manage to pass a lot of people by. I watch so little on ITV that it's easy to miss trailers for the couple of good shows they manage to produce a year. To be fair, they're great at crime.

My hands need constant occupation. (It's a good job I never had the inclination to smoke.) Anything and everything involving needles and thread of varying sizes is an addiction.

I was gutted when Kenickie split, and it's even sadder that they're not doing anything musical now, even individually. I loved Lauren's solo stuff and Marie and Emmy-Kate's incredibly brief stint as half of the glorious Rosita (who I did see and interview back in my fanzine days).

You may indeed play. Have a C.

Thank you darling. I'll give C some thought.
