I equate "VERY American" with very functional clothing but also the most boring clothes ever. Michael Kors is verrrrrry American. And also to add onto G's list, Lacoste, most def.

HAHA nicely said :P Someone else mentioned American style being functional too! I mean, a lot of ppl talk about an American icon being blue jeans...very hardy and practical. O YA Lacoste! Man! I remember they totally underwent this change some time ago, with all the Mathias ads, different colored polos, from the kind of bland stuff they had before. Actually, I remember reading this small history of Lacoste - or this designer they brought in to revitalize the brand - which was something like in the 90s they dipped b/c they lost the exclusivity element....or something.

I tend to equate the American style with more of a functionality to the clothing than other designers. More of a sleekness? Like Calvin Klein compared to Dior (esp under Galliano). Adding on to the lists above, I'd put Donna Karan there as well, maybe Philip Lim.

Hmm, functionality and style isn't something I considered! That's interesting. CK, definitely, totally forgot about him. I was just browsing through a magazine the other day and started thinking about it, and I was wondering if it was just a perception thing bolstered by the models they use in ads. Plus, Tommy's colors are very American flag-ish. haha listen to me pretending to know something about fashion :P

I find BS-ing my way through life very valid. I mean, I'm just spewing crap everywhere anyway.

Also, are you going to write more of the D/G fic (confession: when I typed D/G, I totally thought Dolce & Gabbana. Fashion on the mind much?)?

Oh, I know. College has just REALLY refined that ability.

HAHA, dude. Every time I see the D&G ads, I think...FIRE&ICE! :P I think I will, but it's just something I work on when I have to blow off some writing steam :P
