in addition to voting for obama (and cringing at seeing palin's name actually in print) i voted a big fat no on both props 4 (parental notification for a minor's abortion) and 8 (ban on same sex marriages

Congratulations! What a cool first election. I think I lost my vote virginity to some local bond issue about community college funding. And I still went to vote early because I was going to be in Yosemite (for the HGM senior trip) for actual election day.
i lost my vote virginity a few months ago, but this is the first presidential one. and this one also has something about community college funding too.
i like voting by mail though. maybe one day i'll go on election day and do it, but this is more convenient and flexible for me.
Oh gosh, I am a total convert to election day voting at the polls. I voted absentee all through college but have voted twice so far his year, both at polling places. I guess this was mostly due to reading some article about how usually absentee votes don't even get counted for presidential elections because they're not significant enough to tip the electoral scale. I hate the idea of my vote not getting counted, even though I know on a rational statistician-y level that it doesn't matter.
Also there's this sort of raw democratic powah about going to the polls with everyone who lives around you, interacting with the volunteers and such. I met a guy who lived in the apartment next to mine when I voted for Barack in the primary...I've been living in the same place but never talked to the guy before or since.
And man it is SO cool to see people standing in a long line to vote. It just gets the blood running in my veins. Democracy! Yes!!
i'm not sure how it works in cali, but as long as you vote once every other election by mail you keep your absentee voter status...and I think the only time you need to reregister is when you change addresses.

I mean, I was registered before, but I don't know if that carries over (I think you have to re-register every election or something?)
