She was home. Finally she was back where she belonged.

When Olivia crossed back to her side three months ago, a full-on war was the result, but her own fight had lasted almost a year. Both sides had struggled fiercely and lost so much on the way. She lost so many.

But the war was over.

The Other Side was gone. For good. She herself had made sure of that. But then again, who knew how many Other Sides, how many alternate Universes existed. She didn’t doubt that Walter Bishop and William Bell were eager to find out. Liv on her part wasn’t keen on discovering even more versions of herself. One other version was clearly enough. She couldn’t help to feel relieved to know that she was the only Olivia Dunham and hoped that it would stay that way.

It has been a week since the Other Side was destroyed. The aftermath of the war was still visible everywhere she turned her head. Liv doubted that things could ever go back to the way it used to be. But how could it be after a war of worlds? The damage that was now ruling the streets would probably vanish. Hopefully sooner than later. But the war had changed the minds of people. She didn’t know if for better or for worse.

Olivia tried to mute her philosophical thoughts, but she couldn’t take her eyes of the three-day old newspaper on the table:

WE WON THE WAR.

This headline was more clumsy than grand, but it served the purpose. Under the headline was a big picture of people celebrating in the war-torn streets of New York and a smaller one of Walter Bishop, the hero, who made it all possible. It wouldn’t surprise her, if he’d be the next president. That thought made her chuckle. Walter Bishop, President of the United States. Although both Walters she knew were as different as they could be, Liv didn’t manage to separate them in her mind. It must’ve been the same for all of those who had the doubtful pleasure of seeing her alternate version. To her it was as clear as daylight, that the other Olivia was a completely different woman. Standing in front of her was nothing like looking in a mirror. And yet she somehow had managed to deceive everyone she knew.

Liv sighed. She was tired of thinking of that other woman. It was strange to think of her as Olivia Dunham. Yet again she told herself, that she wouldn’t have to again. That other Olivia Dunham was dead with everyone else on her side.
With that thought she took her eyes of the newspaper and finally got up to get into bed. Her face lightened immediately as she saw the man she had come to love sleeping soundly in her bed. Without making a sound she crawled into bed next to him. He mumbled something in his sleep but didn’t wake up. She smiled even more, kissed the scar on his face, as she would use to every night and rested her head on his chest, facing the big panorama window of her new bedroom.

The World Trade Center illuminated her and Charlie’s reflection in the night.

The End.
