210. 83rd Academy Awards

Feb 28, 2011 17:58

This years Academy Awards were amazing. The show in itself was little surprising and I'm not sure I like the facelift they are trying to give the show, but the movies this year were quite amazing. I hadn't had a year since Lord of The Rings when I was that excited about the show ( Read more... )

I'm mostly going to comment on fashion because I'm too tired to think of much else right now, but I agree with your worst dressed (especially Gwyneth Paltrow) . I also agree with most of your best dressed. I loved Helena Bonham Carter's outfit, and I especially love that picture! I think I would have liked Amy Adams's dress, however I agree with the hair comment. The dress is so beautiful and rich in color but it completely washed her out and I think with a deeper red for her hair that wouldn't have happened so much. But what ruined the look for me was the green jewelry. I don't think I would have liked any necklace because of the neckline on the dress. It looked out of place to me. The green and blue didn't match at all, though, and I couldn't get passed that. Natalie Portman had fantastic jewelry! Her dress was pretty and it looked comfortable for a pregnant woman. Her jewelry really made her outfit, though! I loved the tassel earrings, the small bracelets and I actually liked both rings. Well, mostly the ring she wore ( ... )

Gwyneth Paltrow simply can't dress. She usually is on my worst dressed lists.

Helena Bonham Carter just rocks every outfit in my opinion. :D

I would have liked the necklace if the stone was blue (maybe a lighter shade of blue than the dress), but the green was just off.

Natalie looked gourgeous. I'm in love with her tassle earrings.
Yes, that was a really really cute moment. :D

Go you with your Bingo! :D

I agree with most of your comments on the fashion choices, except for Amy Adams' necklace, which I actually really liked. I felt like it added some element of imperfection or playfulness that made the look a little less severe. I think I would've found it too boring-old-glamour-Hollywood otherwise. Not that there's anything wrong with old Hollywood glamour but I felt the necklace made it a bit more modern. IDK, I get why you don't like it though.

The neckline on Natalie Portman's dress is my favourite neckline. If I ever get married, I want a wedding dress with a neckline like that.

Your icon is brilliant, by the way. Mind if I snag it?

It was fun. :D

I agree that the necklace added some kind of playful/less strict element to the dress, I just don't think that the color matched at all. If the stone would have been blue (for a example an aqua-shade) it would have been gourgeous. But blue and green simply does not go together in my book (we even have a german saying which goes along the lines of: green and blue dress the pig. *lol*).

Yes, Natalie's dress as a whole was gourgeous, and the neckline made it - because the rest was so simple. She looked stunning.

Thank you. The text is not my idea though, it's been floating around the internet. I just slapped the text on a canvas. *lol* No, of course not - snag away! :D
