Today is one of Those Days.

This morning my car refused to start. I'd just replaced the battery on Sunday, so this was in no small way confusing. She'd try to start, and the battery would sort of kick in, and then she'd give this hideous shudder and turn off. This lastly precisely as long as it took for the AAA tow truck to arrive, at which point she started up just fine. The mechanic at Pepboys (once he was done staring at my breasts, which took longer than I've really got the patience for a 9am) decided it could be the starter, the alternator, the ignition, or the fuel pump. That particular store couldn't test any of those things, but the store in Culver City could. He then gave my breasts directions to that store and sent them on their way. I followed shortly thereafter.

The nice folks at the Culver City store--who, incidentally, did not seem to think that my secondary sexual characteristics were likely to be the ones driving the car--agreed to test all the various car bits to see what was wrong. Some time later, after my co-worker picked me up and took me to the office, they called to tell me that nothing was wrong with my car. The theory is that I probably got some bad gas somewhere, and it's clogging up the injectors. The real test will be whether or not she starts up tomorrow, cuz a nice simple explanation don't mean diddly if the car won't start.

Meanwhile, back at the office...

My boss needs to send an email to 288 people. It will be the same email, just addressed to each individual person. It needs to go out today. Importing contacts from excel into Outlook proved to be more taxing than I'd expected, by which I mean that once I'd finished the time-consuming process of mapping all 288 sets of info and hit 'go', it went...and then proudly showed me an empty contacts folder. For whatever reason, it would not go. Fortunately, our IT god found a way to convert the excel file to something else and do it all over in a matter of minutes. I am, however, still waiting for my boss to finish his meeting so that he can give me the email to send, preferably in the next 5 minutes as the co-worker who offered to drive me back to get my car will need to leave soon. The email has to go out today, the co-worker has to leave--I think I may be semi-stranded. I will find a way back to my car. It's what I do. I am, nevertheless, irritable and in urgent need of European dark chocolate (because American chocolate tastes too much like powdered sugar).

My roommate also forgot to pay the cable bill, so we currently have no internet at the apartment. At least I won't be able to work from home tonight. :)
