Can we have Cephalod Time check the validity of this statement for me:

An octopus with an armspan of 32 centimeters can squeeze through a space the size of a nickel. The only hard thing in its body is its beak, so if the beak can get through, so can the rest.

get on it.

I buy it.

There was an octy at that aquarium place on Castro (Mountain View), and they had it locked inside a plastic container which was subsequently dumped into a larger tank, which was locked. He had escaped before, that slippy little Houdini.

true. i don't know about the 32cm/nickel thing, but it seems absolutely plausible. it's like being able to fit through anywhere as big as your teeth.

Where did you hear that? I think I remember hearing about something like that when we went to the NY Aquarium.
