I have a novel about the making of that painting by Tracy Chevalier (she wrote Girl With a Pearl Earring and this other book called The Virgin Blue which I actually liked better than the more popular Pearl Earring book). It's a good book, though probably completely historically inaccurate.

Also, at dinner tonight my mom got a veggie burger and this made me think, "Aw, Jennifer would be proud."
