Rick, I loved reading this. Thank you for sharing it!
It's been a long time since I thought much about being an atheist and what it means, in part because I mostly hang out with people who don't find it weird or contradictory or amoral or what have you, but, as with other things, this means I have a skewed sense of how the world relates to us! Praise Praise Praise! I hope it was an affirming experience, to give this homily to the Channing congregation. I know there are struggles with the church on various organizational details and how they go about their current growth, but I am very glad for you that you have a place where you can be you and you can build community.
Sure, you may share it. It was a great experience and people have been very sweet about it. I think I learned something about myself and I'm glad I did it.
