I'm curious, I haven't read the play but I read a summary. Has John Gabriel been to prison? Are there two sisters fighting over him? The only Ibsen play I've read is Hedda Gabler.

Yes, Borkman was imprisoned for fraud. Like all plays by Ibsen, it's a rather tedious study of a bunch of neurotics getting what they deserve. It may still be gripping, but that will all depend on the actors and their skills.
