I'm not a language major, but I can tell you a little. The strongest majors here are a basically any that have to do with education. App was originally the State Teacher's College, and the best programs are still in education. The college of Business is pretty big, and from what I've heard the programs is very strong. I think one of the business majors, business administration, is the top major here, with elementary ed a close second

I graduated ASU in 2000 with a major in Spanish and a minor in International Business. The dept was mainly people who do not speak Spanish as a 1st language. Dr Getz is German and Dr Chen is Chinese and barely spoke English. Dr Solis (from Spain) was the best however. I took every class I could with him. Dr Hartley was pretty good too although once again she was not a native speaker. It is an ok department and to be honest was an easy degree.
could not have said it better myself. I graduated in 2004, with Spanish as one of my majors. It was basically my fun major because it required little/no extra work on my part. I was able to place out of a lot of classes with HS credit (which sort of surprised me) and while I really liked all of my classes, I didn't feel very challenged. Part of it was probably the fact that most of the students, even in the upper levels, did not speak in Spanish, participate in class, and/or do any outside work. Half of the classes I had were taught by native speakers, but I didn't think that being taught by non-native speakers was detrimental (for example, Dr Chen: spoke almost no English but that basically guarantees he will teach the class in all Spanish ... which is sort of the point).

Hope that helps.
