Shelter

A friend of mine and I are interning with AppVoices for 3 weeks in January and are in desperate need of shelter. We are Oberlin Students, and are wondering if any of you have, or know of, a place/room/couch that we could throw some dollars at to stay for any portion of Jan 8th-29th. We aren't looking for luxury, just some water and roof ( Read more... )

I'm no longer located in Boone, but you might try contacting Resident Life at Appalachian & ask about dorms. It might not be the best in the world, but they might have something available for a few weeks, especially if you're a student.

I'd also contact AppVoice & ask them for their recommendations as well. They might even work something out for you!

Good luck! :)

Yeah, we e-mailed ResLife and they said that they didnt have any rooms available. otherwise that would have been pretty awesome.
AppVoice made it clear that they don't provide housing, so it is all on us.

thanks for the advice though!

Wow, that's ridiculous.

I don't know if they'd do it, but you might call around to different apartment complexes & see if they'd rent for a month or three weeks or whatever you need if you tell them the situation (worst part is that you'll probably have to call several different ones). Or ask them if they have any people who need or might want a subleaser for just that time to help save them some rent money!

Also, people around ASU leave up ads for subleasers & things too which might be worth checking out if you can or can have someone else look. (The student union & post office usually have tons of these postings.)

The best of luck!

Some of the less known hotels/motels around here do rent by the month, and they're probably not terribly priced. Maybe call the "town of Boone" people and ask for those hotel names. I know of at least one on 421 I think. They rent for like 29 a night or something like that...i can't remember the name though.

Good luck with finding something!
