Well, the dumpster should never be an option, haha XD; If it comes to that, just donate the stuff to Goodwill or something. :)

I've had a bit of luck on garagesalejapan if you need to get rid of old manga & anime stuff... other than that, I dunno ^^;;

Wow, thanks for the speedy response!

I was totally kidding about the dumpster, worse comes to worst I'll definitely donate stuff to my local library-they're usually my fallback option and I've been beefing up their comic book collection over the years, lol.

I am a member, but I've never sold anything there... Maybe I'll try it out!

I've heard that E-bay is a good option!

...Not that I can say I've actually used it, myself. XD; But I've heard of others having good results with it.

Another thing I see people do a lot is visit the communities of the fandom their manga/DVDs/etc are for and make a post to a sales page where people comment if they're interested in something.

Hm, thanks for the idea about comms!

I guess ebay is a generally good way to go since so many people use it ^_^

My friend said she sold all her old books on Half.com
I tried it before I left home last year but didn't sell anything. Maybe I wanted too much money;;;

Really? She sold all of them?? Maybe I'll have to go for dirt cheap prices u_u;
I don't really understand the difference between half.com and ebay though, in terms of selling! Is it just ebay without the bidding?

"I've tried ebay once before, but it was a miserable failure."

I'd imagine textbooks are hard to re-sell to anywhere but a bookstore who wants `em.

(I sell comic books and CDs on ebay).

I've been selling some of my more niche nerd stuff on livejournal now, and that's going alright... The thing I worry about with ebay is that there are so many people selling the same items as you, don't you have to pay extra money to get your item to appear high in search results, etc?

I did manage to sell one textbook on half.com, which was nice. Of course my school would take old books too but they gave you pennies for them! I think the local used bookstore will be with next option for some of the things I don't sell...

Do you have any tips for selling things like comics and CDs on ebay? Do you find that you are able to sell most of them?

it can be real hit and miss! One time I sold 1 or 2 out of the comic auctions I had up. More recently, I sold most of the comics I had up, but didn't do to well on non-comic stuff ( ... )

Oh, thank you for all of the helpful ideas! I've tried searching google before for "tips," but it's a lot more helpful to hear from someone with some experience.

Selling things as lots sounds like a really good idea. Also, thanks for telling me about how many comics would fit into a flat rate envelope for shipping, that is so helpful! I always get screwed on shipping because I end up undercharging and it's SO frustrating.

You've given me the motivation I needed to start putting some things up on eBay (especially since I'll be moving in only a month now), so really, thank you so much! All of these suggestions are really helpful. In particular, I have a bunch of Japanese CDs and it seems like if I try selling them in lots that might be something that could sell well, because they're difficult to get in America.

Are you listed on eBay under the same name? Would you mind if I checked out what your auctions look like?
