I just had a look online - it says ruby is 40 years. Which isn't right - this must actually be their 50th, so it's gold! I could swear my mum said it was ruby.
Well, 25th is silver...so something silver! My mum and step-dads is in December, which is their 15th and crystal apparently.
Crystal sounds so glamorous somehow, cheaper than ruby as well if you're supposed to buy something made of the anniversary material! It's crazy to think of being with the same person for 50 years, I read a sad story recently about how there's going to be less and less 50+ wedding anniversaries in the near future because people are getting married much later and divorce rates are much higher. I guess it makes sense, if you were married before you were 20 like in our grandparents day then you'd be 70 by the time you got to your 50th anniversary. If you don't get married till you're 30 though then you have to both last till 80 to celebrate your 50th and the chances of you getting to your 60th or 70th get so much slimmer. It must be amazing to spend 50 years with the same person though.
That's very true. My Nanna and Grandad got married when she was 20, and now she's 70! I hope that me and Sean are together for that long - how about you and Dyce?
