Sick as a parrot

I am so ill.
It's hard to swallow, my neck is so sore, my head is pounding, my muscles are aching. I can't even knit.

Aww, hope you feel better soon. Not being able to knit sucks majorly, I find it hard to sit still if I can't do something with my hands. Although if you're ill I guess that's less of a problem! Get Sean to take good care of you :-)

I managed to knit for about 15 minutes before my headache took over. My mum came and visited me today, bringing loads of medicine, so I'm doped up to the eyeballs now! Sean's pretty useless at looking after ill people, but he did buy me some icecream :D

Aww, you've got to love mums, they just know what you need when you're sick! A girl asked me today if I could knit her a cardi (ha!) so I pointed her in your direction, in case you get some random asking you about it. I really want to have a bash at making the fairly easy fairisle from the stitch'n'bitch book but the wool alone costs £55 and I wouldn't know what to buy as a cheaper replacement :-( What are you making at the minute?

Aw, that's really sweet of you!
One of the best lessons to learn about knitting is what to subsitute. Last year I knit a huge jumper, and if I'd knit it in the right yarn , it would have cost £70! So I found a cheaper alternative, and it cost £25 in the end.

I've had a little look around online, and here's what I can find. :
Stylecraft Special Chunky (I've used this before, really soft, and quite cheap! you should be able to find it in your LYS)
Debbie Bliss Merino chunky - can be expensive, I'm not sure how much it would cost for a whole cardi, but it's really soft!
Also, it seems a lot of girls online have held a wosted weight yarn doubled instead of a bulky yarn.
