Hm.
I've added another minor to my collegiate career - one in English Literature, with a concentration on European Literature since I've already taken a course in Shakespeare and am currently taking one in Irish lit and will hopefully take one for British novels and/or poetry next year sometime, but our 3000-level European English classes are few and far between, so we'll see how that pans out.
Besides those two courses, all that stands between me and graduation are three other courses for my major (two 3000-level and one 2000-level, all of them some combination of History or English), a few other intro classes just as fun fillers, hopefully getting a paid internship in the fall at the JFK library for a couple days a week, or someplace else suitably awesome/paid, or (failing that) someplace else suitably awesome/unpaid/close by, doing tons of research for my 30-page thesis on the assimilation process of European immigrants and the evolving construction of "whiteness" and the basically imaginary Caucasian race, proposing and then writing said 30-page thesis, and hopefully keeping my cushy, student-managerial job at the library three nights a week.
This summer has been totally turned on its head with the sudden realization that Sean's going to be staying in Alaska, Mike may or may not be heading out to stay with him, too, Gayle's probably going to be staying in NYC doing the whole graduated adult thing, I love Cory, Aaron, Sam, and Kristen, but we rarely hang out on our "own," Kendra and Kasie are/will be in Virginia, Rose is going to be who knows where...
So now I'm probably going to have to get a second job, hostessing or something a few nights a week somewhere in Westerly, preferably at the new Ninety-Nine cause I like it as far as chain restaurants go. Even if Penneys were to give me more hours (and they won't, cause of the economy), I wouldn't want them because the thought of being stuck there any more than 24-30 hours a week makes me die a little inside. I mean, this is assuming they'll even hire me back at all. Todd's been really trigger-happy lately, in terms of hiring and firing. But mostly firing.
Or, you know, I might go to Alaska! Anywhere between two weeks, and the whole summer, as Sean has offered to have me come and live with him, and there is a JC Penney's in Anchorage, approximately 10 minutes away by bus from where they'll/we'll be living...hrmmm...
Most of you have probably already seen it, but whatever. It's a ship's helm! It also doubles as a symbol for the Buddhist eightfold path of enlightenment, as it turns out! Next will be my anchor on my ankle, then nautical stars behind my ear, and then possibly a pirate-y compass on my back, but probably nottt.
