I like the second panel -- the posture of the unfortunate recipient of the call says it all.

I felt like this once when a girl I was dating called me and talked for what seemed like a long time. She was on the phone for so long that I still had her on the phone while I got ready for bed. I think I'm too polite for my own good. She finally got off at about midnight, and I had only four hours of sleep that night. I had to get up at 4 AM, drive two hours to work, work until 4 PM, and then drive another two hours to get home. I was not in my best mood that day. Thank goodness I wasn't living with my parents at the time, or I would have snapped at my mom like April did when Elly kept pushing her into eating when she said she wasn't hungry at the moment, and then my mom probably would have probably run downstairs into the kitchen, yelled I QUIT!!! while my dad would look gobsmacked.

Yikes on the former GF keeping you on the phone such a long time. I know what you mean about being too polite. I've had calls that went on much longer than I wanted--though fortunately not so long that I only got four hours of sleep. I wouldn't have been functional under those circumstances.

Oops, that reminds me--I forgot to call my mother back this weekend. She tried to call when we were in the car on our way back from an event we'd been attending on Saturday and I declined her call because the highway noise would have made it too hard to hear her. (Well, also I didn't feel like talking on the phone--which is about 90% of the time for me, as I hate phones!) ;)
