Ah, but the point is to ensure that the right to marry isn't taken away. Then all the same-sex marriage fans will be content. Just like Lawrence. Because it's all about the right to be able to do something, not actually to do it.

On that note, did you vote yesterday, April, or were you content just to know that women have the right? :)

LOL. I voted with a vengeance, forworse. My husband and I each took our five-year-old in the booth with us, because he was very excited about election day.

I was saddened to learn this morning that Proposition 8 was passed in California. One of my best friends married his partner this past August--I'm heartbroken for him. :(

I hadn't seen that news yet (it's mid-afternoon here) -- the last I saw was that the vote was very close. I'm incredibly disturbed and saddened by the result. I could write paragraphs about how wrong this is, but I'm sure you feel exactly the same way. I still am uncertain why some people feel so threatened by something which doesn't affect them personally, and am bewildered that such a simple human right should be excluded by legislation. Would this proposition have passed if marriage were redefined as being between white man and a white woman, despite no one having any choice over their race? Sigh.
