Just got off the phone from talking to my son about it. He knew he was suffering from depression but I didn't. Of course, many comedians have this issue.
He just seemed so much a part of all our lives that to be suddenly gone is hard to deal with or even imagine.
I was just about to edit when you replied. It was Saturday, not yesterday. We were watching Chicago and I explained Bob Fosse and referenced The Birdcage and Robin's Fosse dance.
I'm still reeling. Tumblr is full of this with so many lovely posts. I had to update with a link to an article with lots of celeb reactions, plus a pic of him with Jim Caviezel I just found on Tumblr.
So very sad. I had heard that he had suffered depression from time to time. I always felt a very slight connection with Robin Williams because we attended the same community college--he literally left the semester or so before I started, so I knew many people who had known him. He started in Mork and Mindy in '78, when I had moved on to another college but still was in contact with people at College of Marin so I'd hear about him.

He could never know how many people thought of him so recently, in admiration and as an example of genius.

I plan to DVR The View tomorrow as I'm sure Whoopi will have a lot to say since they were good friends. So sad.
