Anthropology and LJ :)

Back home for the weekend :) More or less ;) I'm going to Poznań tomorrow to interview a bunch of LJ users about... LJ :) Live Journal is the topic of my reasearch project. The task is to shortly describe and introduce a certain minority, subculture or group. I chose LJ/bloggers because it's a ground I'm familiar with and still find it interesting

field work is an important and distinctive part of anthropology, or so I'm being constantly reminded about.

LOL, glad to be of service ;) Did your teacheers go on and on about this particular detail like the students were too dumb to remember it on their own, or are you remembering fieldwork of your own?

Oh both, definitely. Unfortunately the program I was at (Central Washington University) was geared more towards the archaeology side of things, specifically Native American; I spent 6 weeks wandering sagebrush-covered hills in 110+ degree weather looking for signs of the nomadic tribes that wandered the area.

We did find a huge site up on Manashtash ridge, even found a few arrowheads; but then of course the real scientists took over. *pouts*
