I had an interesting dream this afternoon. Heh, yeah, I took a nap today. I keep on getting these headaches that make me want to sleep. Anyway, I took a nap and dreamt that I was watching the Evangelion episodes that I had just rented from Hastings. Since I hadn't actually seen those episodes, yet, my dream created it's own, and it's own characters. The main character was exactly like Edward from Full Metal Alchemist, except he was a she, and she was taller with a longer braid. This character later changed into a boy more like the main character of Evangelion, but I don't know when. I don't think I gave her a name. . . I'll call her Brea.
Brea was in training to become a pilot. In fact, she was on her way to receive her first . . . there was a word for them in my dream, but I can't remember what it was. They were basically Evas (Humanistic machines piloted by humans, like Gundams). Anyway, she had never piloted one before today, and now she was going to get her first shot. She and her father were on a flight to the place where she would begin her next stage of training. She looked over at him, realizing he'd just asked her a question about her tests.
"The pilot tests? They were surprisingly easy; I'd thought that Jonathan must have been joking when he said lots of people had failed them."
Her father's eyebrows rose, slightly, but he didn't say anything. I'll have to have a word with Jonathan. The test is a measure of skill and should not have been easy for her. He'd better not have gone easy on her.
Brea's thoughts turned smugly to the testing. She wasn't the boastful type, but she had gotten a great sense of satisfaction when she aced the test. She'd even surprised Jonathan, who'd been her instructor since she began the training. Of course, she had certain advantages, having a pilot for a father, but nevertheless, she'd obviously done better than expected.
Coming out of the plane, Brea saw an old friend. "Shen!!" (I'm trying to recall the actual name, and that's as close as I can get). She ran to give her old friend a hug.
"Oh Brea!" she exclaimed, returning the hug in full, "it's so good to see you. Have you piloted yet?"
"No, not yet. I'm going to start tommorrow. What's it like?" Shen began to explain, but stopped as Brea's father came out of the plane and told her they had to go and get unpacked.
Brea was full of anticipation for the next day's assignment and had to go to the workout room to work off her extra energy. She wasn't aware that she was being monitored. As she went on the treadmill, she started off at an amazing pace and continued to speed up. The people monitoring her progress were surprised; they'd never seen a person keep those speeds up, yet Brea kept increasing. She was frustrated at that point. She wanted to go at the highest speed allowable for the thing, but the light indicated that she was very low on the speed required to take it to its highest potential, so she kept going faster. It wasn't long before she was going at speeds that had never been recorded before, but all she saw was the light, which still wasn't going far enough to her liking. After twenty minutes of this, Brea wasn't able to go on. She'd gotten the light pretty far, but it wasn't enough for her. Unfortunately, it was enough for her body. She stepped off the treadmill and collapsed.
. . . There was more. That took up two episodes, and I know there was a third, but I can't remember what. I do remember seeing it get to the end, and I remember seeing credits and hearing the ending music, and that was it. I also remember thinking that if Dad came in and saw that I was watching Evangelion instead of cleaning, he'd be mad at me, particularly since my excuse for not cleaning was that my head hurt. I also wondered how I was in Jay's room, watching Evangelion when I didn't remember leaving my room. Finally, I did wake up, and I remembered more of that dream than I usually do.
