For Jen,
It's sadly short, but I hope you like it. I've been wanting to write something for you ever since I read your Christmas gift, but it's unfortunately difficult for me to get in a story mood. Regardless, here it is:
Walking down the path on the way home from school, Kyo was completely submerged in thoughts of fighting Yuki when a spindly chestnut fell on his head.
"Owww," he said, annoyed.
Someone gasped, and he looked over and up to see Tohru in a tree, some branches beneath a kitten.
"I'm so sorry, Kyo-kun. It must have happened because I was shaking the tree when I was trying to get Kisa to come down."
As Tohru said this, Kyo realized that what he had mistaken for a kitten was indeed Kisa in her Jyunishi form, a baby tiger.
"You apologize too much," he said, smiling, "need any help?"
"Well, uh-" that was all she managed to get out as, while reaching for Kisa, the branch beneath Tohru broke.
Both Kyo and Kisa reacted immediately, Kyo running beneath her, and Kisa grabbing the hood of Tohru's jacket with her teeth. Being young and not altogether very strong, Kisa was very quickly pulled down with Tohru and landed on top of her into Kyo's anxious arms.
Naturally, Kyo transformed into a cat and Tohru continued falling, hitting her head hard on the rocky ground and blacking out. Kyo was not particularly better off; he ended under her, and struggled to breathe. He soon squirmed his way out and anxiously began to examine Tohru, noting in the process that Kisa, who had landed on top of everyone, was fine.
"Kuso." Kyo was not very able to help Tohru in his cat form.
"Move, Kyo, I can help." Kisa transformed and Kyo was forced to look away as she almost possessively took over caring for Tohru.
