Witness the Power of My Tedious Finger!

Nov 07, 2008 16:38

I'm sitting in Starbucks ruthlessly exploiting their wireless access with my new iPod touch. (Or perhaps I'm the one being exploited, since they charge for access.) And I'm listening to Circus Maximus. Badass.

iTouch be very cool. Especially about the video quality bit.

I've about filled mine to capacity, though, and really wish I had more space.

Did you buy the 8GB version as well?

For my part I'm not intending to use it much for video. When I want to do video I plug my flashdrive into my Xbox 360 and watch stuff on a big ol' HDTV.

I may change my mind if the iPod touch develops support for videos encoded with Xvid.

Yup. 8GB.

Mine is not filled with video, however....pretty much just music.

I read an iPod touch review where the author finds that because his iPod touch has less capacity he needs to sync more often, and that syncing more often has turned out to be a good thing. It keeps appointments and other time-sensitive stuff updated, where if you don't sync because your music collection is sufficient, things fall behind.

So what do you think of the keyboard?

It's more forgiving than I thought (and that goes for pressing virtual buttons in general). Still slow, but that's only to be expected. And I was only using one finger to type. I don't know how the iPod touch would behave if one tried to use two thumbs with it, and I found myself fairly content to use one finger anyway.

There's an add-on (for the iPhone) out there to give the keyboard an option for drawing characters during input, but it looks clumsy (admittedly, it's in the earliest stages). I would be very happy if someone built a Graffiti add-on. And it would stand to reason some alternative keyboards similar to what's available for Palm will find their way to the iPod touch ( ... )
