Detrimental planets

I found this online the other day, while looking for info on Mercury in Pisces (which apparantly is the worst possible placements of anything in anyone's chart ever according to this guy...I am fucked). Really interesting, and it totally makes sense ( Read more... )

Hm. My Mercury is in Pisces too. First, let's re-cap.

Mercury in Pisces is perhaps the least happy combination for any planet. In Pisces, Mercury worries that it is powerless, because the usual strategies it follows to understand and communicate with and about the world don’t seem to work. Mercury needs words to define the world. Words differentiate and discriminate, and in Pisces, words lose much of their meaning. Mercury in Pisces must learn how to describe and define a completely different and unfamiliar experience of reality.

I suppose that's partly true. I do have a hard time communicating with people. It doesn't help that I have a Virgo rising but people tend to see me as very intimidating when they first meet me.

BUT I don't necessarily see this as a detriment. Yeah, I have a hard time communicating but the friends I have are close and of high quality. And about not being to express the words is pretty good for me. I'm a design student so it's better for me to express things in image than in words.

Oh snap. I'm sure you saw this already but...

Famous People with Mercury in Pisces: Johnny Cash, Norah Jones, Elton John, Serge Gainsbourg, Alan Rickman, Liz Taylor, August Renoir, Bernardo Bertolucci, Edgar Cayce, Chaka Khan, Patty Hearst, Abe Lincoln, Heath Ledger, Lucy Lawless, Justin Timberlake

Love how half of these are depressives, the other half are super successful.

Yeah, I agree with you. Just because we aren't inclined to be "happy" doesn't mean that we aren't making up for it in other ways (creativity, I am thinking) or that we won't be successful.
And I would rather be authentic and creative than blindly happy anyway. But I do believe that being authentic and creative and in tune with youself eventually leads to happiness of the lasting variety.

this might be an ignorant question, but is Mercury and Ascendant the same thing?

Nah, the Ascendant is like, you're first impression. I have a Virgo ascendant so when people first meet me I act like a prim so-and-so.

Mercury tends to control communication.

thank you so much!! my ascendant is pisces, so I guess a lot of people think I'm a dreamy person? I should probably find out what my Mercury is then, lol.

Ah, that makes so much sense! My rising (ascendant) is in Virgo, too, and I come off as stuck-up and cold... lol.

Don't count yourself out so soon. One needs to take in house position, degree and aspects in mind as well. And don't forget that, though it may be a difficult position it does serves a purpose and we just have to flow with it.

I've got moon in capricorn in the 8th and its part of a six planet stellium, though all of those planets are in Capricorn too and in the 8th/9th houses, if I remember correctly. But the point is, it does change things up.
