Been an interesting week. I caught a nasty cold Monday night and have been out sick from work for the past 2 days. Been feeling better today and will go back as scheduled on Sunday. I feel you on this one. I am currently working in a position that I enjoy, but it isn't my life's ambition. However, I am able to sneak in bits and pieces of that into my current work whenever possible, so that's something. As long as you can dedicate some time to pursuing that which truly makes your heart sing, nearly anything's endurable to pay the bills, I guess. Best wishes to you on this journey, either way. *hugs*

Hey, Jon, it's Jon (you know: your ex, fellow frat brother, fellow psych nerd, etc). I know exactly where you're coming from. All throughout undergrad I felt torn between an academic track and a more clinical one. Senior year I managed to take a class in counseling, and it helped me make my decision. Sure, I care about people, but I don't care *enough*. So, here I am on a Saturday night studying for my GREs, which are Monday.

As far as getting into a different field, it's not as hard as you think. You'd be amazed at what you can get going with a brief e-mail or phone call. Did you know I'm still in touch with Fleming? And all because of a brief letter I wrote him. Branching out into a new field might be easier than you think. Maybe find people who are doing work that overlaps with the clinical stuff you're familiar with, and give them a call.
