Sungmin crawled unhappily out of his bedroom early that next morning after being awakened by a particularly nasty phone call from their manager. Kyuhyun hadn’t answered his phone, so Sungmin got the wake-up call in his place. “I’m not paid extra to be his keeper,” Sungmin mumbled under his breath, still testy about the events of yesterday.

He searched Yesung’s room first, only to find the other man snoring loudly and clutching his turtle-shaped pillow. Sungmin paused for a moment, tempted to go find Yesung’s toothbrush and dip it in the toilet, but thought better of it at the last moment.

On his way to Eunhyuk’s room in search of Kyuhyun, he glanced into the living room and saw Eunhyuk sitting up on the couch with his entire focus on something. As Sungmin walked farther into the room, he noticed that Eunhyuk was watching Ryeowook and Kyuhyun sleeping in the recliner all tangled up in each other.

Sungmin walked up to him. “I know those two aren’t that interesting.”

Eunhyuk jumped. “Huh? Oh, no. I’m just thinking.”

Sungmin walked up to the recliner and thumped Kyuhyun on the head. “Wha…gawd,” Kyuhyun whined as he grabbed his head.

“Can you not answer your phone? The manager is going to be here in fifteen minutes,” Sungmin told him as he watched the younger man blink his sleep-filled eyes in confusion as he tried to gather his thoughts.

“Fifteen minutes?” Kyuhyun asked, managing to keep his eyes open and look at Sungmin, who somehow managed to look threatening while wearing a pink nightgown with butterflies on it.

“Yes, to the studio. I am sure they are going to cut out our mere mortal vocals and replace them with yours. Look forward to a busy day,” Sungmin told him with contempt.

“Oh, they don’t want me, too? Do they? Please say no,” Ryeowook mumbled as he disentangled himself from Kyuhyun the best he could and turned away to hug the side the chair.

“They didn’t ask for you, just wonder boy,” Sungmin told Ryeowook in a much kinder voice than the one he used for Kyuhyun.

“Don’t hate me because I have the voice of an angel,” Kyuhyun told Sungmin while he climbed out of the chair……to promptly trip and fall on his butt.

“And all the grace of a drunken cow,” Sungmin told him with a dead serious face, causing Eunhyuk to burst out in laughter.

Ryeowook moved over to the other side of the chair to look down at Kyuhyun, and asked concerned, “Are you dizzy this morning?”

“Not at all,” Kyuhyun answered sarcastically from the floor as he glared up at Sungmin.

“So, I think it’s going very well,” Zhou Mi said as he took a sip of his tea. He had been talking non-stop for the last twenty minutes describing his new show.

“Oh, that sounds really interesting,” Donghae told him with his perfect manners as they sat together at a table in back of a seafood restaurant.

“It sounds like you’ve gotten to visit lots of great places,” Eunhyuk told him with that fake face he wore when the guests at Sukira were boring him to death, Kyuhyun thought.

“So, I will be here a little longer, so I guess I will be stuck with you guys again. Not all the time though; I get to travel so much, but I will need to stay some,” Zhou Mi explained. “I stayed with Sungmin last time but you are back, so I guess I will get a new roomie?”

“No, not at all.” Kyuhyun quickly replied from his seat next to Donghae. “I will just stay with Ryeowook ‘til you leave, no problem.”

“There isn’t any need for that; I don’t want to throw you out of your room.”

“Believe me, it isn’t a problem. Sungmin is scary lately,” Kyuhyun told him from across the table with a smile.

“Scary?” Zhou Mi asked.

“Yesung pissed him off, and Kyuhyun here only added to it. Please, don’t ask about what they did,” Donghae informed him as he popped a shrimp in his mouth.

“Now I’m going to die of curiosity.”

“Well, it had to do with the fan service we provide our fans,” Eunhyuk warned from beside Zhou Mi.

“I love fan service!” Zhou Mi smiled and added, “But it isn’t real, so how could it have caused a problem?”

“It causes a problem when Yesung goes to fan service couple sites and starts rumors that make other members look bad, while he comes off smelling like a rose,” Eunhyuk explained.

“Kyuhyun didn’t smell too bad either after this latest rumor,” Donghae pointed out.

“I was in the hospital; I had no clue what he was up to,” Kyuhyun said, defending himself.

“How do we know you two didn’t plot it from your sick bed?” Donghae asked.

“Don’t you even think about giving Sungmin such ideas! Yesung never visits me when I’m in the hospital. He just writes moving things on his CyWorld about me, so his fans will be sure to know how much he cares.”

“So true,” Eunhyuk shook his head in agreement.

“You didn’t visit me either!” Kyuhyun accused.

“I’m a very busy person!”

“True. I was surprised that you wanted to go to lunch today,” ZhouMi added.

“It was your idea?” Donghae asked Eunhyuk, a little shocked.

“I had a free hour. ZhouMi is moving back tonight. I thought we should get the rooming arrangements settled.”

“So does this mean you are buying lunch?” Kyuhyun wondered aloud.

“No, it doesn’t mean that.”

“So, is everything settled? I will be staying with Sungmin when I return to the dorm?” ZhouMi asked.

“Yes!” Kyuhyun quickly agreed, almost ecstatic at the thought of sharing a room with Ryeowook.

“No,” Eunhyuk answered, “you can just stay with me. I don’t have a roommate, and this way nobody has to be moved around.”

“I really don’t mind,” Kyuhyun said, a little surprised. He couldn’t actually ever remember Eunhyuk volunteering to share his room.

“Sungmin will be fine. He’s probably already forgiven you. Yesung is the one that needs to watch his back when it comes to Sungmin,” Eunhyuk informed Kyuhyun.

“What about ZhouMi? How is he supposed to sleep with you? You’re all over the bed, you kick, and you even bite in your sleep. Who the heck would want to sleep with you?” Donghae asked, just as surprised as Kyuhyun at Eunhyuk’s offer.

“ZhouMi, don’t let them scare you. It wasn’t a big bite or anything. It was years ago. I was just asleep, and I was dreaming that I was eating…….well, see, they had me on a diet, and I was really hungry. It isn’t like he bled a lot or anything. It was just a little bite.”

“Sungmin tells it differently,” Donghae told Eunhyuk with a disbelieving look. “In fact, I’m pretty sure stitches were involved.

“I am okay with staying with Sungmin,” ZhouMi told Eunhyuk a bit fearfully, “but thanks for the offer.”

“There is no need for that. If you don’t want to stay with me, then you can always stay with Yesung,” Eunhyuk informed him from his seat beside him.

“Why do you care if he stays with Sungmin?” Kyuhyun demanded to know.

“I don’t care if he stays with Sungmin. I don’t want you staying with Ryeowook.” Eunhyuk told him truthfully.

Kyuhyun didn’t know what to say to that. Kyuhyun just stared back at Eunhyuk, speechless. Donghae, who had no trouble speaking, asked, “Why not?”

“Because……..because we already lost Ryeowook to the top floor, and we are not losing Kyuhyun, too. I don’t want all my dorm mates to leave me,” Eunhyuk told them.

Donghae reached over the table and patted Eunhyuk’s cheek. “You big, old softie.”

“Then, it’s settled. I will stay with Yesung - well, if he agrees.”

“Oh, he’ll agree,” Eunhyuk promised as he smiled at a very disappointed-looking Kyuhyun.

So, why aren’t you in their little gym club?” Zhou Mi asked Kyuhyun later that night as they sat together in the living room. Kyuhyun was focusing on one of his games while Zhou Mi flipped through television channels trying to decide on something to watch.

“I just got out of the hospital.”

“Oh, true. Did you go before?”

“They kinda made me, but the trainer had sympathy on me.”

“Because of your past injuries?”

“Yeah, so I think it’s best if I just keep to singing.”

“I’ve never been a fan of working out either. I think too many muscles are tacky. Don’t you?”

“Huh?” Kyuhyun asked, not looking up from his game.

“Never mind,” Zhou Mi told him as Kyuhyun’s phone alerted him to a new text message.

Kyuhyun grabbed the phone without looking at the screen. Instead, he smiled at Zhou Mi and asked, “Care to guess who it is?”

“I have no idea.”

“Well, there is a high likelihood of it being one of two people. First choice is my overbearing mother, and the second choice is my overbearing Ryeowook. If all things were normal, there would be a third choice of overbearing roommate, but he’s out of the running until he chills. So, who do you pick?”

“Hmmm, I pick your mother.”

“I bet it’s Ryeowook, so let’s see who is right.” Kyuhyun turned the phone around to see who the message was from and frowned at what he found.

“Ha, I guess I was right.”

“Neither, actually.”

“Well?”

“Victoria wants to know if I want to meet up after they are done at the gym.”

“Wow, is there something you should tell me? Chinese beauties are the best,” ZhouMi said with a toothy grin.

Kyuhyun looked extremely annoyed at him and texted a quick message back to her. “That would be totally inappropriate, considering we are in the same company.”

“When has that ever stopped anybody?”

“I’m not even slightly interested.”

“What did you tell her then?”

“I told her I was sick,” Kyuhyun said as he began to focus on his game again.

“You’re not sick.”

“I just got out of the hospital…I’m sick. Plus, I’m sick sounds nicer than not interested.”

“I don’t understand; wouldn’t it be kinda cool if you dated her? I mean you and Victoria, Ryeowook and Luna. I think it would be good for you.”

Kyuhyun suddenly looked up at Zhou Mi with sharp eyes. “Ryeowook isn’t dating Luna; she is just some girl that stalks him.”

“Huh? That totally isn’t what Ryeowook told me,” Zhou Mi told him, looking really confused.

“He’s too nice,” Kyuhyun said, once again trying to focus on the game he was playing.

“Are you sure he isn’t?” Zhou Mi questioned, but Kyuhyun ignored him and continued playing his game. “You know it’s normal to date girls? I mean if you live in constant fear of what your fans are going to think, well -” Zhou Mi stopped suddenly as Kyuhyun interrupted him.

“I am not afraid of what my fans will think. I am just not interested in the slightest. I have dated before, but it just isn’t worth the hassle. I am very picky and have high standards, and not just any girl can live up to them.”

“No matter how beautiful or successful?”

“Exactly.”

“Would you consider going out with anybody?”

“I’m not really supposed too. I’m the baby. The only person my fans want to see me paired with is Sungmin,” Kyuhyun informed him, not looking up from his game.

“That totally isn’t normal. You could date somebody secretly. Celebrities do it all the time.”

“I’m totally happy how I am. Why don’t you go date somebody secretly if you are so worried about it,” Kyuhyun said, picking up his phone and giving it an annoyed look.

“Well, it’s funny that you mention that, because I have two friends coming to Seoul the day after tomorrow, and I was planning on meeting up with them. They are very beautiful models, and if you wanted to, you could come, too.”

“Models, huh? That day is the closest thing I have to a free day for a long time,” Kyuhyun said, only slightly interested. He was still giving his phone the evil eye.

“Yes, very beautiful models, and the one I want you to meet is actually half Korean, so communication won’t be a problem. She is a couple years older though, but - ” Zhou Mi stopped as his phone rang. He answered it. “Hello…Yes…No, he’s fine… He was lying to get out of going.”

Kyuhyun grabbed the phone from Zhou Mi and told the person on the other end, “Why are you calling him to ask how I’m doing?” There was a long pause in which Kyuhyun’s face went from happily annoyed to disappointed. “Oh…Okay…I’m really sorry, Sungmin.” Kyuhyun handed the phone back to Zhou Mi, and he continued to talk with Sungmin.

When Zhou Mi finally hung up, Kyuhyun asked, “So?”

“Well, Sungmin is going to hang out at the gym a little longer, so he is going to be late getting home, but if you do return to your room, he won’t murder you in your sleep.”

“What else?”

“You suck big time, and maybe if you didn’t lie like a dog all the time about being sick, karma wouldn’t always be sending you to the hospital.” The offended glare Kyuhyun gave ZhouMi quickly made him add, “That is a direct Sungmin quote.”

“Where’s Ryeowook?”

“You know that girl he isn’t dating? Well, he’s with her, so he won’t be back either ‘til late, so I am supposed to make you take your medicine and eat something.”

Kyuhyun could feel the color drain from his face, and he hated himself for suddenly feeling sick to his stomach. He had always been demanding of Ryeowook’s time, but something felt different now. Ryeowook should never have kissed him, because he felt like it had confused something deep inside him.

“Kyuhyun!” Zhou Mi yelled.

“What?” Kyuhyun jumped, suddenly startled out of his own deep thoughts.

“Have you heard a word I said?”

“About what?”

“Coming with me to meet my friends - the double date?”

“I’ll go,” Kyuhyun told him as he remembered his game and looked down. “I lost.” Kyuhyun said half-heartedly, and then he tossed the game aside and got up.

“Where are you going?”

“I’m going to bed.”

“You are supposed to eat something and take your medicine.”

“I’m not hungry.”

“What about your medicine?”

“I will take it,” Kyuhyun snapped.

“You could sound happier? I did just set you up with a beautiful model,” Zhou Mi told Kyuhyun as he headed for the bedroom he shared with Sungmin.

“Oh, I’m thrilled,” Kyuhyun said, slamming the door behind him.
