Her heart was beating, pounding against her ribcage with anticipation and fear. She trembled a little. Would she be able to do it? The question went around her head, begging to be answered. Her little Pegasus whined softly, as if it didn’t want anyone but it’s rider to hear what it was saying.
“It’s nervous” Tana thought. She smiled and gently stroked her Pegasus’s fur.
“You’ll be fine” Tana reassured it, the Pegasus looked at her, the nervousness in its eyes dimmed. She smiled fondly at it.
“Ready?” her instructor, Syrene, asked her. Tana nodded.
“Then go!” Syrene commanded. Tana gripped the reins of the Pegasus and gently nudged the Pegasus with her foot.
And they were off.
The air whipped through her hair, so that tendrils of sapphire coloured hair blew into her face. She felt light, like the cotton wisps that were adorning the sky. Her riding gear allowed her to show so much more skin than she could whilst wearing the heavy dresses that she had to when attending balls. It allowed her to breathe. She sighed in joy as the wind embraced her skin, it was cold but she didn’t mind.
She looked down at her Pegasus, it’s wings spread out, it looked majestic. It’s eyes were aflame with joy. She blinked away tears of pride and grinned at it.
She nudged the reins and they went higher, closer to the Sun. She looked down at sky below her, drinking in the sight of Frelia: olive and emerald greens, turquoise blues, stone greys and lacings of dark brown.
She would rule over all of this one day.
She nudged her Pegasus and gently pulled the reins so that it wouldn’t hurt her mount.
They did a series of loops - whilst Tana’s stomach did a series of somersaults.
She laughed.
And with it, came an affirmation of what she had hoped all along.
She was in her element.
I hope that I can do more Tana fics, as well as Ephraim fics because they don't get a lot of attention in the Fire Emblem archive at Fanfiction.net.
