LOL I have like... 9 folders of fonts with licenses that I got through my university when I was still an art student... Technically I have to delete them in May, but I switched majors 3x since I first got them (and switched schools at the university entirely), so maybe they'll forget about me and I'll get to keep them. If not though, I'll be fine.
YOUR TEXT ALWAYS LOOKS SO COOL AND INTERESTING! I never know what to do, even if people tell me they like how I put text on my icons. Someone asked me to do a text guide too, but I am not certain what I should write yet.
Anyhow, I love this guide, and again I loved reading it, because you always write kind of entertaining. It usually makes me grin :)
And on one other thing I have to agree with you. I don't like people putting just the name of a person on the icon too, because usually other people know who they're looking at, otherwise, why would they view it. (And if they do, and aren't familiar with the fandom, they would still know, because you just know when you're on LJ. At least if feels like it.)
I am definitely going to download some of the fonts and I will try to use my tablet more often for text. Only my handwriting looks so boring :/
Thank you, I can say the same about yours! I'm excited to see your text guide! Maybe a list of your favorite fonts and how you decide where to place the text? (idk, just ideas...)
THANK YOU SO MUCH. ♥
Yes, names on icons really doesn't do anything for me (or anyone else for that matter). I think it's just a common mistake a lot of iconmakers fall into, and some of them never really develop beyond it.
My tablet is such a piece of shit but I love it to pieces. Develop a new handwriting! Come up with ~different personalities~ or something and create a handwriting for it. I try to change mine every year just to keep things fresh (I used to get in trouble in school for changing it every month.)
I think I will come up with something. If it's just my favourite fonts and colours or anything..
I got mine (the tablet) for christmas and I really love it! I don't use it to make icons often, because I'm faster when I am using my mouse. But for brushing over parts of the icon I use it, because it's easier. (Which reminds me that I still need to finish my 20inspiration batch.. pooh. not easy the theme this time.)
