2008 Vehicle Registration Difficulties

I accept full responsibility as a stay-at-home daddy that it was my fault that our car registrations were allowed to lapse and that we spent most of the 2008 calendar year without the required legal documents.  My wife, Jennifer, entrusted me with this duty and I failed.

Ugh. Biggest pain in the butt EVER.

I remember when Jesse and I moved to MD from NY, and needing to get our tags transferred. He had gotten his license renewed the previous month while we were in the state for pre-move stuff. We went to get the car's registration transferred, and they told us that because we couldn't prove that the car hadn't been in the state for the previous month, that we'd have to pay excise tax on the car. We had paid the taxes in NY, too. (MD has a law that says that you have to register the car within 30 days of moving to the state.)

Luckily it took her less than an hour to take care of business. It's all good afterall. :)
